The Murray family has the largest number of graves in the Tinonee cemetery.
The Tinonee Murray’s are descendants of the family of John Murray and Isabella Scott who emigrated from Scotland to Australia during the period 1848 to 1852. The first family members to arrive worked with the Australian Agricultural Company.
The family that emigrated from Scotland included the following sons:
John, Hugh, James, William, Thomas, Robert, George, Veitch and Walter. There were also 3 daughters Agnes [ who married William Paterson];
The descendants of John Murray and Isabella Scott can also be found in the cemeteries of Stroud, Krambach, Bunyah and others.
