John Muldoon 1861 to 1937

MR. JOHN MULDOON
The district lost a well known resident on Wednesday evening when Mr. John Muldoon, of Tinonee, passed away
in the M.R.D. Hospital.He was admitted to the institution a fortnight previously, and underwent a serious operation, but his condition
gradually failed until the end came at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The late Mr. Muldoon was a son of Mrs. Muldoon and the late Thomas Muldoon.
His mother, who will be 95 years of age on Sunday, was staying with her daughter at Morpeth at the time of his death.

Deceased was born at Clarence Town 68 years ago, and when he was quite a child his late father came
to Tinonee, where he worked a horse team.

As a young man the subject of this notice worked in Smith and Basham ‘s sawmill at Tinonee, and then, with his
brother, Aaron, he went to Western Australia for a number of years.

On his return to N.S.W. he worked in Sydney for a while, and next moved to Kempsey, where he had a wood yard.

Finally he came back to Tinonee, and for a number of years he worked a horse team.

The late Mr. Muldoon was a bachelor.
He was a very kindly hearted man who enjoyed the respect and esteem of a very large number of people.
He was very popular as a dancer, and his sociable nature made him a popular figure at all social gatherings.
He was a very old member of the G.U.O.O.F., and at the annual District Council meetings he invariably acted
as doorkeeper or messenger.
Brothers who survive him are Messrs. William Muldoon (Taree), Dave Muldoon (Kempsey), and Aaron Muldoon (Tinonee).

The sisters are Mrs. J. Halford (Taylor’s Arm), and Mrs. H. J. Wallis (Morpeth).He was predeceased by two brothers, Tom Muldoon, of Lansdowne, and Robert Muldoon, of Dolly’s Flat.

The funeral moved from Mr. W. T. Howard’s parlors at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday for the Tinonee cemetery.Rev. L. Ayscough conducted the service at the graveside.
