Mrs. Harriett Mary Ann Gollan.
A very highly, respected resident of Tinonee in the person of Mrs. Harriett Mary Ann (Artie) Gollan, died at the Wingham Hospital on Wednesday morning.
The late Mrs. Gollan who, was born in Tinonee, was the only daughter of the late John and Matilda Polley.
In January, 1910, at the Presbyterian Church, Wingham she married George, son of the late Captain and Mrs. Hector Gollan, of Tinonee, the ceremony being performed by the late Rev. J. H. Terras.
Her husband died suddenly 22 years ago. [altered for sensitivity reasons]
Of the union there were three children, namely, Constance Agnes, who died in infancy from an attack of diphtheria: Margaret (Mrs. Clerke), and John Hector, both of Tinonee.
Mr. George C. Polley, of Tinonee, is the only brother.
The late Mrs. Gollan was a full member of the Presbyterian Church.
Many people will retain fond memories of Mrs. Gollan because of her many acts of kindness. In her younger days she was a great worker for any worthwhile cause — the M.R.D. Hospital receiving a special effort.
Because of the work performed on behalf of this institution she was made an honorary life member.
She also loved animals, particularly horses, and never missed a local show while her health permitted.
The funeral which was largely attended, took place at the Tinonee Cemetery on Thursday afternoon after a service at the Tinonee church.
Rev. M. C. Ramsay performed the last sad rites.
