OBITUARY
MRS. CHARLOTTE HARRIS.
Mrs. Charlotte Harris, wife of Mr. S. J. Harris, of Brushy Cutting, Tinonee, died in a Taree private hospital
on Tuesday morning last, alter a lengthy illness.
She had been an inmate of the hospital for 10 weeks.
The late Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carey, of Bo Bo, where she was born;
and had reached the age of 66 years.
She had been living at Brushy Cutting for the past 11 years. Members of her family were pioneers of
the Bo Bo district, where they settled over a hundred years ago.
The late Mrs. Harris was highly respected and enjoyed the esteem and affection of all with whom she came into
contact.
She took a keen interest in the activities of the Mondrook school, and also gave much of her time to assist
various patriotic movements.
The deceased was one of a family of 16.
Besides her husband she is survived by two daughter: Mrs. C. I. Chapman (Wingham), and Mrs. Ray
Chapman ( Forest Lodge. Tinonee). Her only son, Reginald Harris, of Wingham, was accidentally
killed eight years ago when he was struck by the falling limb of a tree.
Surviving brothers and sisters are: Messrs. Robert Carey (Killabakh), Arthur (Kensington), William
(Long Flat, Hastings River)) and Mesdames Sarah Monk (Waterloo, via Krambach), Addison (Haberfield),
William Murray (Burrell Creek), Tom Ashton (Tuncurry), B. Windross (New Lambton), and Tom Smith {Taree).
Mrs. Harris was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: Peter Carey (Bo Bo), who met his death
at Black Head at the age of 30, when he was swept off a rock which is now known as Carey’s Rock;
Edward (Bo Bo). Tom (Tinonee). Richard (Bunyah), Mrs. Annie Bennett (Tuncurry) and Aurella, who met
her death at the age of 18 as the result of a shooting accident.
The funeral took place on Wednesday, leaving St. Luke’s Church, Tinonee, for the Bight Cemetery,
where Rev. W. Griffith Cochrane officiated.
Funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. Harry Brewer.
